STUDENT SUPPORT AND THE PASTORAL SYSTEM
The pastoral system at Heathcote aims to support students in their learning and enable them to achieve their full potential. Effective learning is supported through guidance and encouragement. Attention is given to the personal and social development of individuals allowing them to take increasing responsibility in a caring and supportive environment.
The tutor is the key figure in the life of the student and has a demanding and important role to play in all matters concerning the welfare, development and achievement of students. All students also have regular meetings with an academic mentor who supports progress and achievement.
Tutors work closely with the other members of the Student Support team to ensure that support is appropriate and that parents and carers are kept informed.
Students are divided into five forms per year group. These are: -
Akeman - Ermine - Icknield - Stane - Watling.
Where appropriate, tutors will take their form through from Year 10 to Year 11.
In Years 13, the students are supported by the Director of Post 16 who is responsible for the delivery of Post-16 courses. There are tutors, the Guidance Coordinator and a Pastoral Assistant.
